With traditional sports on hold for now, esports has taken the front seat in DFS, and we now have Counter-Strike: Global Offensive to play on FanDuel. Affectionately known as CS:GO, two teams of five players compete on each map until one team reaches 16 rounds. Most series are played as a best-of-three and will feature teams from the ESL Pro League in North American, the CIS region, and Europe.

MVP Considerations

kennyS, G2 Esports ($12,000)

G2 are the sixth-ranked team in the world and hold a 3-2 record so far in group play -- a team to fully trust on this slate. They are taking on c0ntact Gaming, who are 0-5 in group play and have been eliminated from advancing. You should look to stack players from G2 today and starting with kennyS is a great idea.

He comes in with 12 maps so far and is averaging 20 kills per map, along with a kill or an assist (KAST) in 72.5% of his rounds played. G2 have an implied win probability of 89.3% and should almost certainly be able to pick up the 2-0 series sweep. kennyS has posted over 30 kills twice in the 12 maps and has been held to under 15 only twice. Consistency, along with upside, is the ideal combination for the MVP spot.

aizy, North ($10,200)

North are up against Movistar Rider in a very close matchup -- both teams are tied with a 2-3 record. This series lean towards the full three maps and should give us plenty of fantasy points to grab. North are a team who play a ton of rounds even when they win, and they don't close out maps quickly. While that might be great in terms of the real game, the extra rounds provide extra opportunities for fantasy points.

aizy is averaging 20 kills per map and 0.76 kills per round, which is tied for the seventh-highest so far in the group stage. Extra rounds directly benefit aizy and his fantasy potential and provide an upside some players don't share. A modest 44.6% Headshot percentage can always add some extra points, but the extra rounds are what truly bring the upside.

Players

chopper, Team Spirit ($10,300)

chopper and Team Spirit are holding down first place in Group A with a 3-0 record and haven't dropped a single map -- three series with three sweeps so far. They are looking like one of the best teams in the CIS region, and as you would expect, come in as a large favorite against Nemiga Gaming.

chopper has has positive K/D on five of his six maps, where the one map he was negative was only -1. Averaging 21 kills per map on a team who have looked dominant is not something you want to be passing up. He hasn't flashed an insane ceiling, but he has a very high floor.

xsepower, forZe ($11,300)

Surprisingly, forZe are the largest favorite on the slate -- even more than G2. The group stage is just getting underway in the CIS region, and forZe sit with a 1-2 record and are taking on Team Unique, who are 0-3. Not only are they 0-3, but they have won a total of 33 rounds over six maps, including getting shut out on a map. Team Unique are terrible, and while forZe aren't a powerhouse, they should win this series easily.

xsepower has played only six maps so far in the group stage but holds a very impressive +31 Kill-to-death ratio (K/D) and has posted 17 kills or more on every map. This should almost certainly be a 2-0 and another strong set of maps from xsepower.

El1an, Winstrike Team ($11,000)

Winstrike Team and Gambit Youngsters could be the only series from the CIS region which goes to three maps -- a spot for some potential fantasy value. El1an has a positive K/D differential of +43 and has been positive on all six maps he has played, posting 18 kills or more on five straight.

He is somewhat of a diamond in the rough type player, putting up strong numbers on a consistent basis. Considering there are other players who are larger favorites, El1an might be lower owned -- offering leverage in tournaments.

Team

G2 Esports ($6,800)

G2 are the most expensive team on the slate, but they are also the easiest answer. There is no doubt they can win in a 2-0 over c0ntact Gaming, and it's only a matter of if you want to spend the salary for them. The team spot is shaping up to be an option where you can't get cute. You need a team who will win their series, and that safety comes from G2 today.
