Premier League Betting Guide for Matchweek 14

Manchester United are off to a slow start this season. Will they turn it around this week against Southampton?

This weekend's games will mark the beginning of a three game stretch in just over a week, as matchweek 15 will begin on Tuesday. As a result, we may see some squad rotation in this weekend's games and that is definitely worth keeping tabs on.

Using Soccer odd as the source for lines, let's take a look at some bets you should zero in on this week.

Please note that lines are subject to change after this article is published, which impacts betting advice.

Man City vs Bournemouth

Man City to Win both Halves -116

Man City are a dominant 7-0-0 at home so far this season, with an astounding +23 goal differential. They have won both halves in six out of their first seven home matches this season, and they have even won both halves in three out of their six away matches.

Bournemouth have been a pedestrian side away from home this season, holding a 3-0-3 record with a +1 goal differential. They are 0-1-3 against the current top seven teams in the table, and they are riding a three-game losing streak in league play.

There is no reason to believe Bournemouth will provide much resistance against Manchester City, and it would be surprising if City did not win both halves of this game.

Huddersfield vs Brighton

Huddersfield to Win +145

Huddersfield struggled mightily to start the season, but they have come on strong as of late, earning seven points in their last three matches. David Wagner’s side has had more shots and shots on goal than their opponents in each of their last three matches, so Huddersfield seems to be earning more chances than their opponents in recent weeks, rather than relying on good fortune.

On the other side, Brighton are off to a decent start in the EPL, at 4-3-6, but they have only mustered up four points from their seven away matches thus far, including a loss to 19th place Cardiff City. The Seagulls are last in the league in shots per game and second-worst in shots conceded, so they are fortunate to be in 12th place given their lackluster play overall.

Huddersfield are in good form and playing at home, so they should have a good chance to earn the full three points this weekend.

Southampton vs Manchester United

Manchester United to Win -120

Manchester United are currently mired in a terrible season, as they are already seven points behind Chelsea for the fourth English spot in next year’s UEFA Champions League. However, even given this slow start, United are 6-3-4 (21 points) compared to Southampton’s 1-5-7 (8 points).

Southampton are 0-2-6 in games against teams in the top half of the table this season, so they have not found much luck against teams of any sort of quality. Betting United here is more of a bet against Southampton than it is a bet for Manchester United because based on how the Saints have played so far this season it would be hard to pick them to win against anybody.
