FanDuel Premier League Matches to Target in Matchweek 32

Southampton and West Ham will lock up in a pivotal relegation battle. Which other match could make for a fantasy-friendly environment?

Less than two months remain in the Premier League season, but the schedule is packed. FanDuel will capitalize with a big seven-game slate on Saturday.

Matchweek 32
Saturday, March 31st
Leicester at Brighton
Southampton at West Ham
Swansea City at Manchester United
Bournemouth at Watford
Huddersfield at Newcastle United
Manchester City at Everton
Burnley at West Brom

The two Manchester squads are the biggest favorites on the day, and they have some of the most expensive players on the slate. Manchester City also have the biggest implied total of the main slate.

Players from the Manchester teams will be popular on Saturday, but that is not where this match primer will focus. Let's get to it.

Watford vs. Bournemouth

At the end of the season, this match may amount to nothing as both teams sit on 36 points, 8 points above the relegation zone in the middle of the table. However, two of the last three EPL games between these two have ended in 2-2 draws, and the team that scores first in each of the last four Bournemouth matches has not won the game. The players are also very affordable, allowing for easy roster construction.

A 1-1 draw is the betting favorite for this fixture among two teams that both average around 50% of possession. That should allow time on the ball for each team and create a back-and-forth match at Vicarage Road.

There are eight healthy players in this fixture who average at least 15 FanDuel points. With both teams having lengthy injury lists, it means that there will be plenty of value even outside of the players with the higher points average. Lewis Cook, Jordon Ibe, and Kiko Femenia are among those expected to get big minutes. There are 10 players at or below $6,000 who are expected to start in this game.

That does not mean there is no ability or creativity on the field. Two of the most expensive players in this game (at $9,000), Junior Stanislas and Abdoulaye Doucoure, are worth a look. Stanislas is coming off back-to-back 38.75-FanDuel-point performances. He has scored a goal in each of the previous two matches. Doucoure's fantasy output has taken a hit in the last two matchweeks, but those games were against two of the best teams in the league. He still leads all players in his fixture in FanDuel points per contest.

One more win for either of these teams probably means safety for another year. What better way to secure safety than against a long time rival that has moved through the ranks of English football with you? It should be an entertaining one at Vicarage Road with plenty of DFS value.

West Ham vs. Southampton

This match is the reason the cliche six-pointer is thrown around. Southampton sit in the relegation zone with a new manager that has eight matchweeks to turn it around while West Ham is just two points above them, trying to scratch their way to safety.

A 1-1 draw is the odds-on result in this one, as well. However, there have been at least three total goals scored in four of the last five Premier League matches between these teams. The reverse fixture earlier this season was a 3-2 thriller, with Charlie Austin scoring a penalty kick in extra time to give Southampton the win.

The possible return of Austin gives Southampton a more potent attack. Austin has the best odds to score of any player in this match. Regardless of Austin's availability, new manager Mark Hughes will likely go with two upfront, allowing Sofiane Boufal and Dusan Tadic to roam the wings looking for opportunities to find a striker in the box. That is no surprise as both teams rely on the cross.

Marko Arnautovic is likely to lead the line for West Ham in a very attack-minded formation. Arnautovic is a tipster favorite to score against the Saints.

The best value on West Ham may come from Michail Antonio and Pablo Zabaleta, both of whom will be on the outside flanks providing overlapping runs and getting back for defensive responsibilities. Antonio has two goals and an assist in his last four appearances.

Pricing for this match is similar to the Cherries-Watford clash. Like that one, there are eight healthy players averaging more than 15 FanDuel points per game in this fixture, and there are nine players at or below $6,000 who are expected to start in this match, a contest which could mean the difference between relegation and safety.

These two matches have similar characteristics with plenty of value around the pitch. All four teams here are in the top nine in goals allowed and have a negative goal differential. None of these teams are mathematically safe, either. It should make for two entertaining matches.
