FanDuel Premier League Matches to Target in Matchweek 9

Manchester City have the potential to set goal scoring records in the Premier League this season, and there is no reason to avoid their match with Burnley.

Another six-game main slate faces Premier League players on FanDuel this Saturday. Fewer of the top teams are on the slate, but the top two sides are featured.

Matchweek 9
Saturday, October 21st
Manchester United at Huddersfield
Crystal Palace at Newcastle
Burnley at Manchester City
Leicester City at Swansea City
Bournemouth at Stoke City
West Brom at Southampton

All but one game has an over/under at or below 2.5 goals, but the 4.0 total on the Manchester City match is hard to overlook. City is scoring at a record-setting pace, so no need to try to get cute with your match targeting this weekend.

Manchester City vs. Burnley

Burnley allow the most shots per game in the league, and they are on the road. City have scored two goals in each of the last two matches against Burnley. City have scored 29 goals through the first eight weeks of the season and hold a plus-25 goal differential. Clearly, City are the favorite heading into this match.

Of course, those stats mean pricing for the top stars is high, but the overall slate should not prove to be a challenge to roster construction. Regardless, the City players are at the top of the list for a reason. Kevin De Bruyne, Raheem Sterling, Gabriel Jesus, David Silva, and Sergio Aguero all average over 25 points per match. Leroy Sane averages 21.2 points per match. Sterling and Jesus scored in Champions League action on Tuesday as City kept rolling. Costs above $9,000 are completely justified.

Many of those same names are at the top of the list for anytime goal scorer against Burnley, as well. It is almost to the point where as many as four of the City attackers are predicted to score more than not.

Despite everything pointing in City's direction, they have yet to hold Burnley without a goal in any of their six Premier League matches. This is also Burnley's best start to a Premier League campaign through eight matches. The Clarets, despite giving up a plethora of shots per game, have only allowed six goals thus far.

Defender Ben Mee has great value this weekend at $7,000. He already averages 22 FanDuel points per match and will be tested over and over by the offensive juggernaut on the other side of the ball. Fellow defender James Tarkowski is $6,000 and averages 20 points per match. Burnley keeper Nick Pope has the best save percentage in the Premier League. The entire Burnley defense will have to put in a shift on Saturday, but that could mean big points.

Stoke City vs. Bournemouth

There have been at least three goals scored in three of the last four Premier League matches between these clubs. The top predicted score has both teams scoring this weekend, as well.

Stoke's 18 goals conceded is the highest mark in the league while Bournemouth have allowed 12 shots inside the six-yard box, also the most in the league. Neither Stoke nor Bournemouth have been able to own the possession battle this season, and both teams lost their last game to a top contender. Stoke was a bit more embarrassed, losing by five goals to City, but both sides are both in need of a win.

This is a good formula for a chaotic match that should go back and forth. The more chaotic it becomes, the more chance for goals, yellow cards, and plenty of tussles that lead to defensive action points. It will not take long to gain value from the players in this match if these conditions come to fruition, with only Xherdan Shaqiri priced above $8,000.

The individuals with the highest odds of scoring are Peter Crouch, Saido Berahino, and Josh King. While King did score Bournemouth's last Premier League goal, those odds seem off as Mame Diouf scored last week for Stoke while Crouch and Berahino stayed on the bench. The odds on Crouch may be wishing for him to tie Jon Walters as Stoke's all-time leading scorer in the Premier League.

While the Manchester City match is too hard to pass up, this Cherries-Stoke fixture may go under the radar. However, it could prove to be a fun and exciting match on a potentially wet day in Stoke.
