Premier League: 4 FanDuel Value Plays for Matchweek 6

Southampton's Mario Lemina provides some solid value in this week's match. Which other EPL players can give you bang for your buck on FanDuel?

The season is still young in the Premier League, but the very top and bottom of the table may be starting to take shape. The seven-game FanDuel slate for matchweek six may feature every team that finishes in the top four when the season ends and at least one team that is expected to be fighting relegation.

Matchweek 6
Saturday, September 23rd
Huddersfield at Burnley
Bournemouth at Everton
Crystal Palace at Manchester City
Manchester United at Southampton
Chelsea at Stoke
Watford at Swansea City
Liverpool at Leicester

The larger slate means more players to choose from, but with the top teams in action, that means more players on the upper end of the price scale -- there are 24 players priced at $9,000 or above. The majority of those players come from Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool, and Chelsea. We'll mostly have to look elsewhere for value, including some of their opponents.

Forward

Laurent Depoitre ($7,000): Depoitre scored a goal last week for Huddersfield and Steve Mounie was unable to return for midweek action, so the Porto transfer looks set for another start. It was his first Premier League start for his new squad and he featured as a lone striker depositing the goal quickly.

Depoitre's strength was a defining characteristic of the well-traveled forward before he held off Harry Maguire for the goal last Saturday.

Huddersfield have a good match up with Burnley, which is leading the league in shots allowed per match at 22.6. They have also averaged just 43% of possession to Huddersfield's 50%. Burnley were also taken to penalties in midweek cup action, so there could be some tired legs on the field.

Midfielder

Mario Lemina ($7,000): After getting a rest in matchweek four, Lemina was reinstated into the starting lineup last week. He put in his best performance of the year in that match against Crystal Palace. The Southampton player is averaging over 15 points in three matches played and will be needed defensively against Manchester United.

United and Southampton have been averaging nearly the same amount of possession per match and the home field should help the Saints, but Lemina will still need to put in work on the defensive side of the ball. He will likely not need to worry about Paul Pogba even though he seems to be dancing off his hamstring problems.

Lemina was supposedly on the radar of top Premier League teams before committing to Southampton from Juventus. Last week was his showcase game, displaying why he was sought after -- he was able to be threatening in possession even from a holding midfield role. He's earned FanDuel points from passing in every match and has also created two chances.

Lemina will need to make the most of his time on the ball in this game. His point total will likely rise when he does not have the ball at his feet. He has seven clearances, five interceptions, and five tackles this season. Those numbers have the potential to double Saturday depending on Southampton's tactics against one of the league's best teams.

Defender

Cuco Martina ($5,000): Martina has started the last two games for Everton as they continue to try finding the right personnel and formation while dealing with injuries. Martina was part of a back three this past week as Everton's brutal schedule to start the season ended. Now they have a chance to gain ground in a favorable fixture at home against The Cherries.

Martina has scored over 20 points in the last two matches against top competition. He recorded seven defensive actions against Tottenham while creating three chances from the wing. He had 10 defensive actions against Manchester United and one chance created last week.

Bournemouth have failed to score on their travels thus far. They are averaging fewer than 10 shots per match and have scored just three goals through five weeks of play. Bournemouth's lack of attacking skill could allow Martina to be more involved in the attack on overlapping runs.

It should be noted that there is a chance Mason Holgate takes Martina's spot. He is actually $500 less than Martina and would still make a good budget option.

Forward

Simon Mignolet ($4,500): The Liverpool keeper is priced right in the middle of the pack as the keepers have begun to bunch up in pricing as expected.

Mignolet is still the number-one keeper for Premier League matches despite Loris Karius seeing playing time in the Champions League. Mignolet is averaging only 9.1 FanDuel points per match, but has recorded eight saves over the last two matches. He was under constant fire in the Manchester City match two weeks ago, getting no help from his back line or Sadio Mane, who received a red card.

Liverpool have only lost two of their last 10 Premier League matches against Leicester City. The Foxes are averaging fewer than 10 shots per match and just over one goal per game.

Good luck this week and enjoy the big FanDuel slate.
