4 FanDuel Premier League Value Plays for Matchweek 1

Willy Caballero's time as Chelsea's starting keeper may be short-lived, but he gets a good match up to be one of the best value picks for matchweek 1.

The Premier League returns on Friday roughly a month after France were crowned World Cup champions. That also means FanDuel EPL contests are back.

There is a single game slate for Leicester versus Manchester United on Friday, but that is not our focus here. This article is geared toward FanDuel's main slate, which begins at 10:00 a.m. EST Saturday and features five matches.

Matchweek 1
Saturday, August 11th
Everton at Wolverhampton
Crystal Palace at Fulham
Cardiff City at Bournemouth
Chelsea at Huddersfield
Brighton at Watford

The most expensive player on the slate is Eden Hazard ($12,500), but it is unclear if he will play, after returning from the World Cup with rumors swirling of his departure. There are only 12 total players priced at or above $9,000, but that low number is to be expected with this year's three promoted sides all playing on the opening slate.

Marcus Alonso ($7,500) starts the season in a familiar place as the most expensive defender on the slate. Meanwhile, the expected starting keepers range from $5,500 to $4,000.

Let’s take a look at some value-priced players at the various positions who may be a little bit of a risk, especially for the first week of the new season.
