Auction Draft Advice
My league is shifting to an auction draft this year, just wanted to get some general advice on strategy.

I've been doing a couple of mocks on the ESPN site - basically I have been looking to avoid the top tier of players and to try to have a more well rounded team, drafting 5 or 6 solid RBs / WRs and then going cheap at QB / TE. Last draft I did was:

QB: Eli ($1)
RB: Lamar Miller ($39) / Forte ($22) / Ryan Mathews ($12) / Latavius ($11) / Matt Jones ($7) / Gore ($3)
WR: Alshon ($39) / Amari ($26) / Cobb ($17) / Michael Floyd ($12) / Jordan Matthews ($7) / Funchess ($1)
TE: Julius Thomas $1
K: whoever I get for $1
D/ST: whoever I get for $1

I'm really happy with this team, but just wanted a bit of advice around whether my strategy is good and whether the prices I've got listed are reasonable for the respective players.

I'll piggy-back off what Matt said. I like your depth, as well, and I always think that's a good strategy. Auction drafts are so much fun, and, in my opinion, so much better than snake drafts. I typically try to do exactly what you did -- go cheap at QB and TE and amass depth at WR and RB. Usually after the first five or 10 minutes, the prices normalize and those who have been patient can go to work.

In my opinion, I really like your team and like the strategy of going cheap, especially at QB. Some people may not love the strategy but I think it works if you don't let too many of the top players come off the board before you start bidding.

With that being said, I think you may have overpaid a little for Alshon given he is the same price as Lamar Miller. But overall, I like your team and your strategy of having really solid depth.

Yeah, i was trying to hit that second tier WRs - for me that's AJ Green, Nelson, Alshon and maybe Allen Robinson. I skipped on Green and Nelson because they creeped into the 40s, but then realized there wasn't anything too exciting as a WR1 beyond that point.
