Need help choosing my keeper for this years roster
Ok, so we are allowed to chose 1 player from last years roster to keep for this upcoming season. We substitute the draft pick ahead of where we drafted that player last year. Example: I drafted Antonio in the third round last year, and if I keep him then I would lose my 2nd round pick this year. If I keep Russell this year then I would lose my 5th round pick. Who would you keep?

picked 1st round: Marshawn Lynch

picked 3rd round: Antonio Brown

picked 10th round: Russell Wilson

So you're allowed to keep players picked in the 1st round? What do you have to sacrifice, since there's no round ahead of it?

I think it all comes down to circumstances mostly related to what other RB's will be available to you in the 1st round. If 7 or 8 of the top 10 current RB's are being kept by other teams, then I think I would want to keep Lynch (provided there are no outlandish penalties for not being able to pay the sacrifice price).

IF, however, you envision yourself being able to snag a top 6 or 7 RB in the 1st, AND keep Antonio Brown as your 2nd round pick...I like that a lot.

Keeping Russell Wilson is not an entirely stupid notion, but I don't think it should be a consideration for several reasons; first and foremost, it's not great value, because of the depth at QB. Second, it's really hard to expect him to keep up those kinds of rushing numbers (no QB has ever really sustained, year over year, elite rushing numbers), in which case his value goes down even more.

So...Top 10 RB options scarce? Keep Lynch. Looking good at RB? Keep Brown.

Thanks for the advice, that helps a lot. I think we have to choose our keeper before the draft starts which makes my pick tougher. Do you think Marshawn will have another great season?

Right, but I suppose my presumption was that once people started locking their keepers in, you'd have knowledge of who else was being kept. If you're going in blind, that makes it tougher. As far as Lynch having another great season, I really like some of the analysis I've read about how improbable a breakdown is from him. Breakdown among other players that either had a lot of recent touches, or hit a certain age, can usually predict by a trailing off of certain metrics. I think it was Chris Harris over at ESPN that did an article showing that Lynch does not have those tell-tale signs.

Ajay gave a great answer above and I'll second it and say keep Brown. There's no way you get the same value that Brown provides with a second round selection with Lynch or Russell.
