So we are starting a dynasty league this year.. It will be 40 rounds! Starting spots are 2 QB 3RB 3WR 1 TE 1 flex 2DL 2 LB 2 DB. My problem is the first 10 rounds will be Auction.. I have never done one. What is a good strategy to follow in auctions?

Most people will spend big in the first couple rounds and then try to spend low at the end which means the middle rounds are a great time to get good players at good prices. I think a good strategy is to spend big on one top 7 RB. Then wait a little and try to get guys like Mike Evans, Brandin Cooks, Melvin Gordon and Jonathan Stewart. Don't spend big on QB, try to pick up something like Tannehill and Rivers. I think that you should try to nominate guys that you don't want but that you think will go for a lot of money just get that cash out of peoples pockets. If you have any more questions I will gladly answer.

Try to nab a pair of low-dollar QBs because they can contend with top QBs in the right matchups. Receivers tend to have a longer shelf life than RBs, so spending up for WRs makes sense. Also, plenty of people play for the future and will pay top dollar for players such as Todd Gurley and Odell Beckham. That can make older guys such as Vincent Jackson, Anquan Boldin, and even top-tier players such as Arian Foster or Lynch go for lower than they should. You can have a loaded team early on and adjust accordingly later.

(Also, trying to snag potentially elite guys like Josh Gordon when everyone else has exhausted their auction money could pay off big down the line.)
