Forward Thinking: Defense Edition
I've been riding the Lions D/ST happily since Week 2. So even though they disappointed a bit this week (hey, giving up a lot of yards to Drew Brees is nothing to be ashamed about), I want to hold them if at all possible through their Week 9 bye. I need a fill-in, and I want to try and snag a backup D/ST now rather than wait, if I can.

So, can you rank the following DSTs (with their Week 9 matchup included)?

Colts (@ NYG on MNF)
Saints (@ CAR on TNF)
Vikings (@ WSH, potentially with RGIII back)
Redskins (v. MIN)
Bengals (v. JAX)

Sadly that's really all there is. The Bengals would seem like the obvious choice, but their recent struggles are no secret.

Help?

Bengals have been struggling but have good talent ... and Jacksonville is making bad defenses look good.

I would go Bengals, Redskins, Colts, Vikings, Saints..
I know the bengals have had a rough couple of games, but good defenses always bounce back. Redskins and Colts seem to both have + matchups. And I would stay away from the vikings/saints if at all possible

Yeah, that's what I was thinking, too. I know the Saints especially are pretty bad, but desperate times.... ;-)

bengals. Washington 2nd. I think both those defenses give you at least 5 points with an opportunity to hit double digits. The others are scary in that they are at least capable of giving up 35+ pts and 400+ yards to capable offenses

Thanks for giving me a better feeling about trying to jump on the Bungles or (gulp) Redskins for that week. I think I can wait until after waivers process and see if by chance a better defense gets dropped instead; I doubt anyone is going to chase either Cinncinati or Washington right now with their recent performance and matchups THIS week.
