stafford + others for rodgers?
I'm trying to acquire aaron rodgers from the last place team in a 6pt passing td league for stafford, fred jackson, and crabtree (his roster's injury ridden).

usually this would be a no brainer rejection from him, but it's a keeper league and stafford was drafted in the 7th round, meaning i could keep him next year by giving up a 6th round pick.

Is it worth giving up that keeper value for a temporary upgrade until calvin johnson comes back? Stafford has been worthless without him. Or is stafford just not all that good?

I don't think it's that Stafford isn't good, it's more that he plays for a smart coach in Caldwell for the first time, after emerging as a high-value fantasy QB under a dumb coach in Schwartz. Now, Detroit runs a bit more to try to keep some degree of balance and to open things up when a stud like Johnson is out. Before, he would have just thrown it as much if not more. I think Stafford's value comes back when Johnson does, and that should continue into next year. Rodgers is definitely an upgrade, but maybe not a huge one when Johnson is back for the Lions. I have not done a keeper league, but my guess is that you won't be able to keep Rodgers for that 6th round pick next year. If that's right, then I think you are giving up a lot (including Stafford as a 6th rounder next year) for what should be a temporary upgrade.

you're 100% right. it's probably not even worth the 2 wins i might be able to get in the short term over the long term value of at least 2 fantasy seasons of stafford at 6th round price

I agree with that. Plus, like Beast Mode said in his response, there is not guarantee you'd get the wins when you factor in that you could lose close to the same number of points from FJax and Crabtree as you may gain from Rodgers over Stafford for those 2 weeks.

stafford has been without Megatron and Bush, his top two passing weapons, so to ask if he is not that good, come on man. A couple games does not a career make.
As to the trade... that is a lot to give up, your QB1, RB2, WR2/3.... is ARod an upgrade over Stafford? Yes. But both are top 10 and arguably both are top 5 when Megatron/Bush are in the lineup. So.... is it worth it to bump up a couple spots in the QB1 order for all your depth... that is YOUR question... since we cannot see the rest of your roster. If FJAX and Crab never start for you, then perhaps it is worth it.

Solid point, but this about winning over the next 2 weeks. I'm 2-4 and pretty much on the brink of elimination. FJax starts in my rb2 slot. Crabtree was my disappointing flex with Calvin out. I've also got Vereen, McKinnon, Sankey, Andre Holmes on my bench.

also if i I lose this week, I'm 2-5 and likely to punt on this year and trade calvin johnson for a #1 next year.

Given the rest or your roster, if you make this deal, you're gaining at QB, but possibly losing at RB and WR/flex. McKinnon should be pretty good, but I'm a LOT more confident that FJax has a good week against the Vikings this week than I am that McKinnon has a good game against the Bills defense. And McKinnon would be your best remaining RB after making this deal. At WR/flex, you're banking on Holmes being as uncovered as he was against San Diego (not likely against Arizona this week), and you're putting a lot of faith in Carr's ability to get the ball to Holmes, which may not happen consistently. I still think you're giving up a lot.

the key, and Danny also mentions it below, is temporary upgrade vs. season-long and keeper-league factors... the next 2 weeks might be important, but if losing Fjax and Crab hurts you rest of season, then the trade is worthless or worse. and the factor of losing Stafford on the cheap next year. to maybe upgrade 5-10 points over the next 2 weeks at QB you could risk more points lost by having to use worse RB/WR players on your bench. sounds pretty risky to me. however, if you feel comfortable rolling out Vereen and Andre Holmes this week instead of Fjax and Crab, then make the trade. Don't think I would.
