I have both Gronk and Ertz...who should I start?

    I also have Gronk, Ertz (and Gates). and am a huge Pats fan! Luckily I have a Flex spot so I can start 2 of 3. If i had to pick between one of them, I'd say go with Ertz until Gronk is up to speed playing sufficient snaps (60-70%). Obviously Gronk is the master when healthy, but I agree he currently looks slow/stiff and is highly dependent on TDs at the moment. Ertz, while also somewhat TD dependent, is athletically gifted, in a more smoothly running offense, and is playing more snaps than Gronk. And Ertz is still improving, so those numbers should continue to rise gradually. Personally, I'm looking to deal one of my TE's off a big week for a WR/RB if a good deal presents itself and you might want to consider that. Having to make this decision every week is a frustratingly good problem to have...

    I also have Gronk and Ertz and I'm having a really hard time. I'm a Patriots fan so I've watched every game of Gronk's career. He's definitely not himself yet and the snap count is extremely frustrating for a fantasy owner though good for a Pats fan. I've been strongly considering starting Ertz simply because he's playing so many snaps, though he actually had just as many receptions as Gronk last week. I'm expecting the Pats game to be a complete domination so I anticipate that the Pats will focus on the run throughout the second half.

    I have the same situation. Took Gronk kind of early (mid 3rd) and somehow snatched Ertz in the 9th.

    I'd take Gronk and his targets over the inevitable decline of Ertz's 23 yd/catch average.

    Gronk averages .83 tds/game for his career (which is INSANE) and he's still getting healthier. TEs make their money by catching TDs, and Gronk is the best in the game at doing just that.

    if you do not have a good flex option, play both. but i would go with ertz.

    Gronk has been a must start for years, but he has been slow to start this season. So far, their gameplan depends on what the defense gives them (a ton of rushing or a ton of passing). I would imagine they are also just easing Gronk along. Ertz is actively in the gameplan. For now, Ertz.
