Mistake at draft?
10 man league but set up is: 1 QB, 1RB, 2WR, 1 Flex, rest is normal.

I choose 6th and with my 4 first picks I took all RBs, Jamal Charles, D. Murray, Doug Marin, Le'Veon Bell.
Thus weakening my WRs: V. Jax, Cordarrelle Patterson, Michael Floyd, Decker, M. Wallace, Justin Hunter.
Have two more drafts coming up so could use some input on whether or not this method was a mistake and if I should take a different approach.
Thanks

your league only starts one RB? That's such a strange setup, anyways, in that situation I would Draft RB/WR/WR/RB/WRWR and a QB dead last. Youll still get Andy Dalton or Phillip Rivers for your QB.

Yeah I don't know why they do it this way. I joined last year because they were short one. I thought the format was conducive to go WR heavy and drafted like that last year (Megatron, Dez, Josh Gordon and Graham). But this year they all were leaving so much value on the board with RBs I couldt help myself.

I don't agree with focusing on a position with picks because you can possibly miss out on someone better at a diff position. In this lineup format, in kind of forces you to draft WR early. Definitely draft a top WR1 with one of your first 3 picks.

    Yep mistake. I didn

I didn't intend to focus on the RB position early but just kept seeing value there. As I said earlier my biggest slip up was not taking Dez or Graham in the second round.

Here is he bad news. With the 1 RB, 2 WR and 1 Flex spot, I think you focused too heavily on the RB position. You have 4 of the top 10-12 RBs. You can only play 2 each week.

Your Top 3 WR are VJax, Floyd and Patterson. VJax is consistent. Floyd is going to see a ton of targets and this could be Patterson's breakout year.

But here is the best part......You have basically got a monopoly on the RB position. The position most likely to deal with injuries during the season. You can figure out which RB you need the least, or the RB that others want the most and hijack them in a trade for a top notch WR.

Dont EVER feel bad about grabbing too many RBs. Its a long season and something always happens.

FYI, this is often the approach I take.

Thanks for the input. Would have liked to grab a tier 1 reciver to go along with JC, Martin and Bell then snatched Ellington after that. Would have been a much better team.

My first 2 would be RB and WR, in that order. And my 3rd and 4th picks would be another RB and another WR, but I would decide which goes where based on what the draft board looks like at that time. Given this particular league's rules, you may have gone a little too heavy at RB, but you could also view it from the perspective that you got so much value at RB that your lineup will always include one RB at the flex, and your flex will probably be the best in the league week to week.

Thanks for the opinion. I think I did go too RB heavy and will learn from it for next year!

You can always trade up. You can package to upgrade V Jax or trade a RB for a WR straight up.

I think it's a mistake because even with your depth, RBs have less value on the market because you only have two spots instead of three. Trade Doug Martin for Antonio Brown. If not Brown, then Andre Johnson, Fitgerald, somebody like that. Or, target the team that did the opposite of you aand has weak RBs.

Thank you for your thoughts. I agree that I made a mistake overall but especially in the second where I took Murray over Dez and or Graham. That was my biggest mistep.

Yeah, even in a two RB league, I'll go WR in the second just because I've had success with it (I think there was a NF article on it last year that said to go RB, WR, RB) and it all but guarantees you a top 5 WR guy. I especially do this at picks 8-10 because there won't be as much drop off from the running backs you get there to the ones you can get at the end of the 3rd/early 4th. If you have another late pick, consider going 1-RB (Foster,Bell, Murray) 2-WR (Dez, AJ, Thomas) 3-Antonio Brown (unless Ball or Bernard fall to hear) 4-Andre Ellington (or WR if you went RB in the 3rd). Pretty much every mock/real draft I've done those guys have been there at those spots.
