Johnny Football to the waiver wire?
I drafted Manziel as my backup before the news broke that he was not starting. I have Nick Foles as my starter. With no Josh Gordon, should I drop Manziel to pick up another backup QB? Options are Geno Smith, Josh McCown, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Jake Locker, Matt Cassel, Bryan Hoyer, Shaun Hill. Bortles and Bridgewater are available as well. Standard scoring 4pt passing TD
As for who to pick up...I say no one...at least for now. Check out the waiver to see if there are any good RB or WR picks. If you don't need backups in any other position, now would be a good time to pick up a rookie or sleeper and see if they pay off. Around Week 3 or 4, when you have a few weeks of stats to look at, then I would just look at the matchups for Week 7 (Philly's BYE) and pick up a QB with a soft matchup. So long as Foles doesn't get injured (which is unlikely given his age and history), then there's no need for you to use up a roster spot on a backup QB. And if Foles DOES get injured, then you'll HAVE to grab a QB from the waivers, and the options will be either exactly the same or very similar.
