Testing a new draft strategy,
I was just testing out a different draft strategy in a mock draft for an upcoming draft I have. I went Graham & Brees 1st & 2nd, how do you think the rest of the roster filled out? It's better than I thought it would end up.Standard scoring 12 team league but 6 pts for passing TD, no flex spots.
QB - Drew Brees
RB - Doug Martin
RB - Ryan Mathews
WR - DeSean Jackson
WR - Jeremy Maclin
WR - Kendall Wright
TE - Jimmy Graham
BN RBs - Bernard Pierce, Devonta Freeman, Donald Brown
BN WR - DeAndre Hopkins, Markus Wheaton, Doug Baldwin
I'm fine with streaming D's (who cares about Kickers).
If you ever read articles on NF you know that many knowledgable writers are big backers of waiting on QBs and TEs. You are doing the exact opposite of what most of the seasoned FFers here do. It doesn't make sense.
Grab yourself a solid RB and WR and skip this kind of approach. It is going to help your team out so much more. You'll actually have depth and then you can potentially trade away that depth for top end TEs/QBs by the time the playoff push comes. You can get Rivers or Cutler in the 10th round and guys like Bennett or Gates at the very end of the draft.
Its an interesting strategy. I just recently heard something about a 0-RB strategy. Which is not drafting a RB until the 3rd or 4th round. Which is what you did here. It could work. The only thing I would alter is grabbing a true WR1 in the 2nd round a grabbing a QB later. Like I said, the 3 WR makes it crucial that you secure the position with solid guys.
