Formulating a Draft Strategy
I have the 5th pick in a 14 team PPR League. we play 1 QB 2 RB 2 WR 1 TE 1 Flex 1 K and 1 D/ST... I am targeting Eddie Lacy in the first round. Is there another player I should consider and how should I attack going forward in such a deep league?

As for RB's, Balance your roster with risk/ reward. Safe picks early, then high upside gambles late rounds. I prefer RB anchor if i get early pick - an elite RB that can run & catch passes for PPR - i'm high on Forte. I also like Andre Ellington a lot if he falls to you. Your upside late rounders - pick RB handcuffs tied to Fantasy Fossils like Gore/ Hyde or S.Jackson/Freeman. Then pick handcuffs tied to high-mileage RB's like Marshawn/ Micheals. One of them will hit.

Also, since it's deep league, you can't follow value logic, everyone will have same strategy (Late QB pick, Zero RB, QBBC etc) be prepared to pull the trigger a round or two earlier than ADP.

Regardless of how the early rounds shake out, I'd be targeting Pierre Thomas, Steven Jackson, and/or Chris Johnson in the mid rounds as high-value pass catching RB's. Not necessarily starters, but decent Flex plays, especially in PPR

Definitely take Charles/Lesean/AP/Forte if one of them somehow drops to you. If not, Lacy is a great choice. I say take one of the elite WRs in Calvin/Demaryius/Dez/Marshall/AJ/Brown if they are still available in the 2nd round. If not, choose the best running back available. What you do in the third round depends on how you drafted in the first two rounds. If you went RB-RB, then you have some flexibility in third. I'd suggest taking a QB in Manning/Rodgers/Brees if one of them is still there, but you can still go with a WR or even a third running back. You can never have enough running backs.. If those QBs arent available in third round, then i'd suggest you wait to draft Wilson/Rivers/Romo/Cutler in one of the later rounds. If you do get an elite WR in the second, you should most definitely get a RB in the third though. Past those rounds i say still draft running backs early and often. Don't take a receiver unless you reaaly like their value at that pick. Plenty of good WRs you can get in the later rounds but thats not the same for RBs. Stack up your bench with all RBs and WRs. I'd say 6-7 RBs and 4-5 WRs on the roster are ideal. Don't ever reach for a TE, but make sure you do get a decent one. And of course don't draft a defense or kicker till the very last rounds

as far as ppr goes i dont think lacey is as valuable as other players but you could do worse...
AP or forte may fall to you. you could even grab calvin johnson or dem. thomas with the 5th pick. they will catch so many balls they outscore most RB's.the way your league is set up you wont have to go RB RB

Honestly if any of the top four RBs (Charles/Ap/Forte/Shady) fall to you (highly doubtful) you HAVE to take one of them. Otherwise it's a toss up between Lacy and Lynch. When it comes to QB you can wait til later rounds to pick one up, or even take three decent ones in late rounds and hope one of them pans out (think Cutler/Romo/Dalton) but in the second round I would definitely target one of the top four receivers if they're there (Thomas/Megatron/Bryant/Green) and if they're not then the rest of the way you just really have to stick with your board and go with the flow of the draft. Can't go into it with a written in stone strategy.

No way I take Lynch at 5 in a PPR league. In a 14 team PPR, there is exactly ZERO chance that Thomas or Calvin make it to you in the 2nd - you're 2nd pick is pick 24. I'd be floored if any of those WRs (or even Marshall or Julio) make it to pick 24. I'd take Calvin at 5, tho I'd consider Lacy.
