Norv Narrative vs Cordarrelle Patterson (as overrated)
I am getting conflicting stories, but in a fun and cool sort of way. First I buy into the Norv Narrative but then I see that CP is over-rated. If you buy into the Norv history then CP's success this season is looking up.

Matt Cassel - nuff said. Patterson will be good... but he's being overdrafted.

My stance on Patterson is this:

I'm going to ignore all of the Norv Turner hype. He's gotten great results out of great players in the past...but I feel like the next Norv Turner related bit of fantasy news I hear is that he helped a player walk on water or rise from the dead or something. It needs to cool down. He's a great offensive mind...let's leave it at that.

As it pertains to Patterson as a PLAYER...as a TALENT...I'm all in on him. To watch him play the final 5 games of last season...it's clear that he possesses the raw talent and athleticism necessary to become an NFL superstar. I would venture my journeyman opinion that he has greater tools at his disposal than Josh Gordon ever did. If he can be properly planned for in an offensive system, he is going to have plenty of opportunities to have the ball in his hands.

Putting these two factoids together...I am fairly confident that ol' Norv knows exactly what he's got in Patterson, and is not foolish enough to squander his talent. I think we're going to see plenty of him this season, and I think the fact that he is on a team that will be facing 8 man boxes on D frequently will only help open the field up for him.

Frankly, I'm mock drafting him as a WR2 in many of my leagues, and he is a player I will be targeting heavily as early as I feel I need to to have him. I want him on my team this year.

Probably lots of folks that feel that way. It's a fair enough point. I'm just in the camp that the return on investment will be there. 3rd round, probably not... But if in the 4th round, I'm in a position to pick a WR and its a choice between say Garcon or Patterson... I'm picking Patterson

I'd rather have him as my WR3 (with WR2 upside, of course). Grabbing him in the 3rd or 4th is getting too rich for the return

He is going to be a beast this year no doubt about it. He can catch and run and is the go to guy on that team.
