Keeper Q
10 Team Standard League - I get to keep 4

Julio Jones – 1st
B. Marshall - 1st
Forte – 2nd
Cobb – 3rd
Kaep – 4th
Harvin – 6th or 5th
Ellington – 6th
Bernard – 7th
Cameron – 9th
Gordon – 11th

I'm know I want Forte in the 2nd and Bernard in the 7th, I'm leaning Harvin in the 6th and Gordon in the 11th. I know its stupid to burn a bench spot, but the benches are deep enough for me to carry him and not really hurt me (I carried julio jones after someone dropped him last year - unfortunately the commissioner changed the rules from all Free Agents costing a 6th rd pick to retaining the rd the were drafted in - so only UDFAs were 6th rders. This was specifically because I picked up Jones and Cobb after they were dropped, which IMO is bullsh!t, but I'm on a tangent here).

I agree that Forte (2nd) and Bernard (7th) are good value and should definitely be kept. After that, it gets really hard as I don't see anyone as being worth that much more than the draft pick you're giving up. I would say Colin Kaepernick in the 4th is out for sure (he's just not worth that). I wouldn't draft Gordon in the 11th (I think he will fall farther than that in most drafts or might even go undrafted), so I'd just pick him up at the end of the draft if he's still there (otherwise, just be glad he's someone else's headache). Ellington in the 6th might work out, but since you're already keeping two RB's, it might make more sense to go WR or TE. If all the other elite WR's are being kept and\or your 1st round pick will be late (if you know), I might pick your favorite of Julio or Marshall. After that, Harvin in the 6th would probably be my pick, but Cameron in the 9th would also be good if TE's tend to go early in your league.

As for the commissioner changing the rules, don't get mad but instead just take it as a complement. In one of my leagues, the commissioner dropped the bench size from 6 to 3 just because I was hording all the RB's as all the other members were carrying backups at the other positions (QB, TE, even a few backup kickers). Trust me, it makes it that much sweeter to win your league when you know they've went out of your way to try to stop you and they still can't.

    Forte, Bernard, Ellington, and Cobb.

    Ellington: Has great upside
Cobb: Was on pace for a career year last year until he got hurt.

Both players provide good upside and not really breaking the bank. If you can choose to keep 3, let Cobb walk as you may be able to get a better WR in the 3rd. But if you HAVE to keep 4, I'd go with Forte, Bernard, Ellington, and Cobb.

Forte is easy, Bernard is great value and I like Ellington a lot so I'll say him and Cobb.

I would keep Forte, Ellington, Bernard & Gordon. These guys offer the most value. Here is my case for Gordon:

I like the idea of stashing a potentially 2015 2nd Rounder in the 11th Round. Then in your Round 1, 3, 4, 5 you can look at WRs & QBs. (More than likely, you are picking up Jones or Marshall in that 1st Round anyway.) I dont know what type of other owners you have. Maybe no one would draft Gordon, maybe someone would. But at least you wont stress too much about his situation. If he is able to come back sooner, you have scored a major winner. Based on your rules, if you were to pick him up as an UDFA during the year, he would be a 2015 6th Rounder, 5 Rounds earlier than if he was your current keeper. You would have to pick him up after Round 11 for his to be of further 2015 vaule.

Just take guys at a spot lower than your ADP - Ellington, Bernard, and Forte means you don't have to worry about running backs at all in rounds 1 and 3-5, which gives you a big advantage in roster construction. Add in Cameron for the 9th I suppose. Gordon's not a bad alternative, but maybe you can wait until they reveal his punishment before deciding on your keepers.
