Way too early keeper dilemma
Ah who are we kidding, it's never too early for some FFL. The real draft just has me way too hyped to not spend some time pondering this...

The only 2 rules really pertinent to answering are: #1 - You can only keep 1 player from each position, MAX 3 keepers. #2 - If you keep 2 players drafted whose value is in the same round, one of the players bumps up a round (undrafted players are worth last round picks, the 17th round for us).

My only viable options are:

RBs:
Giovani Bernard - 6th round
Montee Ball - 9th
Zac Stacy - 17th

WRs
AJ Green - 1st
Josh Gordon - 16th
Alshon Jeffery - 17th
Michael Crabtree - 17th

QB/TE
Vernon Davis - 7th
Andrew Luck - 11th

It's the rules we have in place that make this tough. I know for a fact that Jimmy Graham, Gronk, and Julius Thomas are being kept...so holding on to a TE in Davis that is miles above the rest of the mid-tier pile seems like a must. Not to mention Andrew Luck in the 11th round is just crazy value, especially given that in our league the past couple years, at least 3/4 of the top 12 QBs are gone in the first 5 rounds (don't ask me why, I can't figure it out. We don't have any special scoring rules that favor QBs).

But then I'm left picking one player out of the RB/WR category, when frankly I would like all 7 of them back on my team.

The sensible part of me says keep the 17th round starting RB, Stacy, and the 16th round WR that ended up the #1 WR in standard scoring last year

...but it certainly seems like there has been a lot of love lost on Stacy this offseason...I hear almost no one talk about him, and when they do, it's hardly positive. I think he went in like the late 2nd/early 3rd round of the mock draft the CBS podcast did a couple weeks ago? And part of me is scared of Gordon...I mean, in the 16th round he is almost guaranteed to outperform his value, but of the 3 Top 10 WRs I can keep, he scares me the most. How long can someone really keep defying common reason? New coaching staff all over the place, new QB, etc...I know he overcame it last year, but that certainly seems like the exception to the rule, no?

The fan in me (Bengals) says keep Gio and AJ Green, and that even though I am not getting as incredible of value as I would w/ Stacy/Gordon/Jeffery...at least I'll have my favorite players who also happen to be top talents at their positions.

I dunno...this has become way more than just pondering at this point : )

First, I wouldn't keep Green with the other WR you have/their value.
Second, stream your QB and even you TE

What pick do you have in your draft? To me that says what to do with your WR. If you're top 5, I'd almost definitely go Jeffery and then maybe pounce on Gordon in the first roundIf not, I'd wait to see what CLE does in the draft to address the QB position, though Gordon can do well no matter who QB based on last year.

Given the LRQB we tend to emphasize here at nF, I probably wouldn't worry about Luck, but that is tempting. Since you can't keep two WR, I'd probably go Jeffery - fewer questions. I'd even entertain just two keepers to have that extra draft pick for a late flier...

I pick 10th in the draft. If I don't either keep AJ Green or draft him with the 1st pick in the 2nd round, I will not be able to have him on my team (which sucks cuz I play with folks who will refuse to trade him just to torture me...god I love fantasy football!)

Whatever you do, don't keep A.J. Green. In my opinion, Green, Gordon, and Jeffery are all about the same level, so with the huge gap in draft position between Green and the others, that would be a terrible mistake (you might be able to draft him right back in the 1st round anyway). I'd take Gordon for sure, but if he scares you too much, then go Jeffery. For RB, I'd go Zac Stacy in the 17th, but I don't feel as strongly about it, so if you want to stick with Bernard (or try Ball), then go for it. If you know the QB's will all be gone early, then I'd stick with Luck (good TE's can be had late and I don't really trust Vernon Davis anyway).

    Stacy and Gordon are no-brainers.

I don't understand why anyone would be "scared" of taking Gordon. The dude is a mutant in terms of talent and athleticism. Jeffery is really good too, but he is in a 1A/B situation with Marshall. Gordon will see way more targets than Jeffery.

With QB's being kind of a hot commodity in your league, I would keep Luck as my 3rd guy. He tends to be overvalued vs his production and could be a good guy to try to trade away during the season. I have never been a big Davis fan as he can be really hit or miss (remember week . The elite TE's are few, but the middle tier guys are pretty deep, so I would just worry about addressing that position in the draft.

I'm scared of Gordon because he's one sip of codeine away from a full year suspension. I'd like to think becoming a superstar in the NFL would curb his desire to do that, but well...t

Montee Ball- He should take over the starting role in a Peyton Manning Offense, Not to mention that offensive line is pretty wicked, and they should add to it in the draft. Stacy would be good too, but Ball should have a better season that Moreno did last year. Top-5 RB here.
    Josh Gordon- No brainer.
Gio/Jeffrey- Personally, I'd go Gio, because good starting running backs are a dime a dozen, and Gio should be a top-10 RB prospect. Jeffrey is good because of the value, but you really aren't going to find Gio available past 2-3 rounds.

Go with the value, Stacy, gordon and Davis. You'll be able to get a QB back in the draft.
