Tough to argue against Durant, but if we only consider the player's importance to one's team, then LaMarcus Aldridge would probably get more attention. The Trailblazers without LA would be in the lottery (as made obvious by the games he missed this year), but instead are taking it to the Rockets in the playoffs. However, I know that Aldridge would have needed to put up his playoff numbers throughout the regular season to knock off Durant, but his importance to his team should still be noted.

How good do you think OKC would be without Durant? Sure, they have Westbrook, but his effectiveness is at least partially attached to people having to watch KD. KD carries such a HUGE scoring load for his team, take him away and beyond Russ, do you trust anyone to carry the load? Ibaka can't create his own shot, leaving guys like Thabo, Perk, Lamb, Fisher, etc.

Agreed, though the Thunder did win by 18 back in January without KD or Westbrook (of course, the Celtics don't really count). I'm not really arguing for LA over KD, but more for Aldridge being third in line after the two obvious choices (it's no fun picking the same as everyone else).

It's funny how quickly this went from being a real battle between the two to like 95% of the people I talk to saying KD.
