What's your extra point solution?
It seems like many think something needs to be done (I'm still not totally convinced), but I agree just kicking it from the 25 yard line (so making it a 43 yard attempt) makes little sense. Not only would it then make going for two (from the two) the preferred choice, but it would also eliminate any threat of a fake extra point (though I admit you don't see many of those anyway). So, what better ideas do you have? Here's my thought, so please tell me why this wouldn't work:

My proposal would be to allow the player making the TD be the one to kick the extra point (from the 2 yard line as it is today). However, if a team doesn't want that player kicking the extra point (fear of injury, can't kick, etc.), they can still go for 2 (from the 2) or take a 20 or 25 yard substitution penalty (so it would be a 40 or 45 yard attempt). So, players that score all the time will practice their kicking some and be prepared for it in the game. However, when the nose tackle recovers a fumble in the end zone, they might choose to take the substitution penalty and let the kicker try a 40 or 45 yard kick instead. We aren't putting kickers out of a job (they still kick all field goals and some extra points), star players get to show off their all around skills (like in the old days), and fans get to see if Jamaal Charles can go 6 for 6 on extra points on his big day (instead of running Succop out there again).

Seeing the touchdown scorer kick the extra point would be hilarious, but would probably cause more problems than solution. I like the idea of just giving the team a point if they want it, but they can go for two still if they'd rather do that. As a lot of people are referencing, it's basically NFL Blitz.

You say hilarious, I say awesome. I don't know how many fans wouldn't love the idea as I still remember attempts from Ndamukong Suh and Doug Flutie years later. I know the players and coaches would never go for it, but if the only consideration was putting interest and excitement back in the extra point, I think this would do it. As for your solution, maybe it's just me, but I think I'd rather leave it as it is rather than just give the extra point for free (call me old fashioned, but a TD should always be worth 6 points, in my opinion).

I like the extra point but I don't like all the commercials that they have after scores and kickoffs. If there is something that the NFL should change, it should be there commercials

Amen, but wishful thinking...thats not even up to the NFL, unless it were to be negotiated in TV contracts...but you can bet 9 billion dollars that neither side would be doing anything to make those contracts less lucrative.
