Best Keeper Leauge set up?
I am creating a Keeper League for the first time. It will be an 8 person team league in Yahoo. I'm not sure what the best set up is though. I'm not even sure what Keeper cost are? So if you guys wouldn't mind sharing your experiences and how your Keeper leagues are set up that would be much appreciated!

I am in a 12 team keeper league on Yahoo, which was originally just a regular league until about 4 years ago when we decided to make it more interesting by changing it to keeper. The key for running a keeper league is to make sure it is a consistent bunch of guys, without having new players every year. We are allowed 3 keepers, and the cost of a player is one draft position higher than the previous year. If the player was not drafted, and you picked him up off of the waiver wire, then he would be a 15th round pick. If, however, the player was drafted by another team and then dropped (Shane Vereen for instance), even if you pick him up off the wire he is still going to be valued at one draft pick higher than he was drafted by the previous owner (this prevents an owner who has the #1 wire position and didn't make the playoffs from dropping their best player only to pick him up once he clears waivers for a 15th round pick.) Our draft is a snake draft, and the order is set based on previous year standings.

Good luck with the setup, and you will find it much more complex when you are trying to draft as well as trade. I don't know much about the auction pricing or even salary cap leagues, so can't help with any of those settings.

Do you have a limit on what round a you can start using a player as a Keeper? Example: I drafted Jamaal Charles in the first round, in your league could I keep him and forfeit my 1st round pick?

No limits. For instance, I drafted Arian Foster in the first round in 2011, and kept him in 2012 and this year in the first round. I almost didn't keep him this year, but i was 11th pick in my league and felt that he still had value that low in the first round. What is nice about the keeper leagues is that no player keeps 1st round value for very long, so usually there is a pretty good rotation amongst the owners. Another thing to not is that if you keep both your first and second round picks, they remain 1 and 2, since you can't give up 2 first round picks in 1 year. Same if you keep two players that were drafted in the same round, 1 would be kept a round higher, and the other would remain (I traded for Knowshon, who was drafted in the 11th round, and if i keep him and my other 11th rounder from this year, Danny Woodhead, I would have them in rounds 10 and 11 next year.)

I'm assuming this is redraft? Typically there's a limit as to how many years a guy can be kept, and then the player's keeper value is the round he was drafted in the year before.

I prefer auction drafts, and keep players at their previous cost times a 10% inflation rate. But I'm assuming this is snake?
