Lightning sign Tyler Johnson to seven-year deal
The Tampa Bay Lightning have signed center Tyler Johnson to a seven-year, $35 million contract extension.
Johnson, a restricted free agent, had filed for arbitration, but this is a nice increase for the 26-year-old. He had previously made $10 million over the previous three seasons with Tampa Bay.
In 2016-17, Johnson tallied just 45 points with 19 goals in 66 games. That's somewhat disappointing in light of back-to-back 50-plus point seasons in 2013-14 and 2014-15. The Lightning will hope for more of Johnson's earlier seasons going forward.
