Bears' Jeremy Langford expected to get 20 carries
Chicago Bears running back Jeremy Langford is expected to get 20 carries Monday against the San Diego Chargers, according to ESPN Bears reporter Jeff Dickerson.
Dickerson said "it would be a surprise" if Langford did not reach the 20-carry mark. With Matt Forte (MCL) sidelined, the Bears have already stated Langford will be the feature back until Forte is healthy. At 6-foot tall and 208 pounds, the Michigan State alum is a bigger back, but he ran a scorching 4.43 40-yard dash at last spring's combine.
Langford has rushed 27 times in 2015 for -0.52 Rushing Net Expected Points (NEP). He has a 3.45 Reception NEP on five targets. His 2.94 Total NEP is 14th among running backs with 40 or fewer opportunities in 2015. The matchup with San Diego is favorable as the Chargers rank 28th in Adjusted Defensive Rushing NEP per play.
