Jaguars acquire Cody Kessler from Browns to back up Blake Bortles

The Jacksonville Jaguars acquired quarterback Cody Kessler from the Cleveland Browns in exchange for a conditional 2019 seventh-round pick.

What It Means:

Kessler, a 2016 third-round pick, will replace Chad Henne, now a member of the Kansas City Chiefs, as Blake Bortles' backup. He made eight starts for the Browns as a rookie and threw 6 touchdowns versus only 2 interceptions but he only attempted 23 passes across three limited appearances in 2017.

Kessler has completed 139-of-218 passes (63.8 percent) for 6 touchdowns and 3 interceptions across 12 games in his career.
