Kirk Cousins not expected to get franchised tagged by Washington
Washington Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins is not expected to be franchise tagged by the team and will be an unrestricted free agent.
Cousins received the tag last offseason and was rumored to earn it again, even after the club acquired Alex Smith from Kansas City. If he had been tagged for a third straight year, Washington would have tried to trade Cousins, to receive a larger package back than the compensatory pick they will get in 2019.
Cousins threw for 4,093 yards and 27 touchdowns on 540 pass attempts in 2017.
