Julius Thomas not cleared, but catching passes at Jaguars' practice
Jacksonville Jaguars tight end Julius Thomas (hand) was able to catch passes and was limited at practice on Wednesday.
Thomas has been able to run routes in practice for a while now, but Wednesday was a step forward. He still has not been cleared to return to game action, meaning his expected return date should be viewed as Week 6 or later.
When Thomas is able to return, he'll be joining an offense that currently ranks 24th in Adjusted Passing Net Expected Points (NEP) per play. Thomas led all tight ends with at least 40 targets in Reception NEP per target last year, though that was largely a touchdown-dependent ranking. Even when Thomas is healthy, you should be skeptical about his fantasy output if the Jaguars are unable to work their way to the red zone often.
