Panthers on board with Cam Newton's running pace
Carolina Panthers offensive coordinator Mike Shula is "okay" with the fact that Cam Newton is on pace for 172 rushing attempts this season.
That would be a new career high by 45, and one of the highest rushing totals by a quarterback in NFL history. It exposes Newton to injury, but Shula knows it's one of his best bets at moving the ball for a team that barely has a receiver corps. It's excellent news for fantasy owners as long as Newton can stay on the field.
Newton ranks second in Rushing Net Expected Points (NEP) among quarterbacks at 12.01. He's 17th in Passing NEP with 13.09. Carolina is on a bye in Week 5 before hitting the road to take on the Seattle Seahawks.
