Saints release safety Kenny Phillips
The New Orleans Saints have released safety Kenny Phillips, according to Mike Garafolo of Fox Sports.
Phillips had started at safety in Weeks 2 and 3 after re-signing with the team. With Jairus Byrd having returned, Phillips became more expendable.
Byrd's return couldn't have come at a better time. After one week with him patrolling the defensive backfield, the Saints are still last in Adjusted Defensive Passing Net Expected Points (NEP) per play. They'll be pitted up against a Philadelphia Eagles team that is currently 17th in Adjusted Passing NEP per play in Week 5.
