Bills sign free agent Boom Herron

The Buffalo Bills have signed free agent running back Boom Herron, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

What It Means:

This comes after Tuesday's announcement that running back Karlos Williams was in concussion protocol. LeSean McCoy is expected to miss an additional few weeks because of a hamstring strain, leaving Boobie Dixon and Cierre Wood as the lone running backs on the roster.

Herron wasn't great for the Indianapolis Colts in 2014, but he also wasn't terrible. He finished with -2.69 Rushing Net Expected Points (NEP) over 78 carries, totaling -0.03 Rushing NEP per play. That was much superior to teammates Ahmad Bradshaw (-0.05) and Trent Richardson (-0.09) in that same category. Richardson also worked out for the Bills this week.
