Chargers sign Roberto Aguayo in hopes of fixing kicking problems

The Los Angeles Chargers signed kicker Roberto Aguayo to a Reserve/Future contract.

What It Means:

After being taken by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the second round of the 2016 draft, Aguayo proceeded to go an abysmal 22-of-31 (71.0 percent) on field goals -- and also missed a pair of extra points -- before being cut last summer. He spent time with the Chicago Bears and Carolina Panthers this past season but didn't make an in-game attempt. The Chargers are hopeful that a fresh start for Aguayo will solve their problems at the position.

As a team, the Chargers hit 20-of-30 field goals in 2017, finishing last in the NFL at 67.0 percent.
