Chiefs lose cornerback Phillip Gaines to torn ACL
The Kansas City Chiefs have placed cornerback Phillip Gaines on injured reserve with a torn ACL, ending his season.
Gaines suffered the injury in the first quarter of the team's loss Monday to the Green Bay Packers. The team did get cornerback Sean Smith, but Gaines's injury will again be a hit to their depth.
Through the first three weeks of the season, the Chiefs sit 14th in Adjusted Defensive Passing Net Expected Points (NEP) per play. They are paired with the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 4. The Bengals are currently fourth in Adjusted Passing NEP per play, meaning this will be a game to keep an eye on when Sunday rolls around.
