Byron Marshall expected to replace Chris Thompson (leg) for Washington on passing downs
Washington Redskins running back Byron Marshall will take over as the primary option on passing downs following Chris Thompson's season-ending leg injury.
What It Means:
"(He’s) a bright kid and willing to learn," head coach Jay Gruden said when asked about Marshall stepping into Thompson's role. "He’s not going to have much of a choice. He’s going to have to.†The second-year undrafted free agent was just signed off the Philadelphia Eagles' practice squad last week but he and Samaje Perine figure to split the majority of Thompson's 10.3 touches per game.
Marshall rushed 19 times for 64 scoreless yards and added another 3 catches (5 targets) for 10 yards in three games last season for the Philadelphia Eagles as an undrafted rookie out of Oregon.
