Eagles' Fletcher Cox won't face suspension for hit on 49ers' Joe Staley
Philadelphia Eagles defensive lineman Fletcher Cox will not be suspended for his hit on San Francisco 49ers left tackle Joe Staley, said NFL spokesperson Joe Lockhart.
Cox caused Staley to fracture his orbital bone on Sunday while blocking him during an interception return, but the league doesn't seem to think the action warranted any sort of punishment. The 26-year-old defensive lineman will play against the Denver Broncos in Week 9.
In six games this season, Cox has 9 tackles (7 solo) with 5 sacks, 2 deflected passes, 1 forced fumble, and 1 touchdown. As a unit, the Eagles rank 16th in Adjusted Defensive Net Expected Points allowed per play.
