Raiders' Sean Smith losing starting spot to T.J. Carrie

Oakland Raiders cornerback Sean Smith has lost his job to Travis Carrie, NFL Network's Steve Wyche reports.

What It Means:

This started to happen at the beginning of camp, and now it looks official. Signed to a four-year, $40-million contract last March, Smith rebounded somewhat after being burnt to a crisp in his first game, but things have apparently not improved this offseason. He is still seeing snaps in nickel packages, but that may change once rookie Gareon Conley (leg) returns to health.

Our models project the Raiders as the 10th-worst fantasy defense in the league this year with just 117.3 fantasy points in standard scoring.
