Sammy Watkins headed to Rams in trade with Bills

The Los Angeles Rams acquired wide receiver Sammy Watkins and a 2018 sixth round pick from the Buffalo Bills in exchange for defensive back E.J. Gaines and a 2018 second round pick.

What It Means:

Watkins will step in immediately as the Rams' top option at wideout, where he should be a firm WR2 with upside depending on Jared Goff's improvement, as well as his health. Entering his fourth year in the league, Watkins has missed a combined 11 games over the past two seasons due to foot issues. This deal is a shot to the fantasy value of Robert Woods, who seemed to be a lock to lead the Rams in targets this season.

Prior to the deal, numberFire's projected Watkins for 987.9 receiving yards and 7.44 touchdowns on 64.9 catches in 2017, making him our WR18 overall in fantasy.
