Eagles trade Matt Barkley to Cardinals

The Philadelphia Eagles have traded quarterback Matt Barkley to the Arizona Cardinals in exchange for a conditional seventh-round pick.

What It Means:

Barkley will be pegged behind Carson Palmer and Drew Stanton as third on the Cardinals depth chart at quarterback. This trade greatly increases Tim Tebow's chances of making the Eagles final roster as the third quarterback. The Eagles receive the seventh-round pick if Barkley is on the Cardinals roster for at least six games.

The Eagles ranked 12th in our schedule-adjusted Passing Net Expected Points metric last season. Barkley totaled a disappointing 27-of-52 for 351 passing yards with 0 touchdowns and 2 interception in 4 games this preseason.
