Dalvin Cook impressing Vikings with ability to protect passer
Minnesota Vikings second-round rookie running back Dalvin Cook received praise from offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur for his ability in pass protection.
“He’s got a great background in it,†Shurmur said, referencing the rookie's time at Florida State. “I don’t see any elements of running back play that he can’t be very good at, and pass protection is one of them.†With Latavius Murray (knee) still sidelined, Cook could seize three-down duties in Minnesota by the time Week 1 arrives.
numberFire's models project Cook to carry the ball 148.2 times for 627.1 yards and 4.71 rushing touchdowns while adding 35.3 receptions with 291.4 yards and 0.92 scores through the air in his first NFL campaign.
