Brent Celek

Brent Celek as Eagles' number one tight end?

Philadelphia Eagles tight end Brent Celek has a 'good chance' to lead the team in tight end snaps this season, according to Paul Domowitch of The Philadelphia Inquirer

What It Means:

Celek has led the Eagles in tight end snaps since 2009, and head coach Chip Kelly loves Celek for his run blocking ability. Zach Ertz is viewed as the more valuable fantasy option at tight end, but Celek's presence will eat into Ertz's playing time. Ertz is also recovering from groin surgery which will limit his effectiveness.

The Eagles ranked 12th in our schedule-adjusted Passing Net Expected Points (NEP) metric last season. Celek ranked 23rd out of 27 tight ends with at least 50 targets with a 0.41 Reception NEP per target. Our algorithms project Celek to finish the year with 45 receptions, 428 receiving yards, and 3 receiving touchdowns.
