Bills expected to cut a quarterback with Tyrod Taylor named as starter
After naming Tyrod Taylor the starter earlier Monday, the Buffalo Bills are expected to cut a quarterback, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
Neither E.J. Manuel nor Matt Cassel should feel safe with this report coming out. Manuel lagged behind in the battle for starter, but Cassel carries a higher salary cap hit.
Both Manuel and Cassel struggled in a limited sample size in 2014. Manuel 35th in Passing Net Expected Points (NEP) per play out of 48 quarterbacks who recorded at least 75 dropbacks. Cassel was behind that as he finished 41st prior to sustaining a foot injury.
