Browns still open to idea of adding Ray Rice
Speaking Sunday, Cleveland Browns head coach Mike Pettine refused to rule out signing free agent running back Ray Rice.
With Duke Johnson in the concussion protocol, the Browns are short at running back. It's the second time Pettine has passed up the opportunity to say the team isn't interested in Rice. Although Rice is now 28 and coming off a year where he didn't play, he leads a barren running back market. Rice's addition would further muddle an already unclear situation in the Browns' backfield.
Even when Rice was last on the field in 2013, he was ineffective. He finished the season with -38.48 Rushing Net Expected Points (NEP), meaning the Ravens lost over 38 expected points on the 214 times he carried the football.
