Golden Tate up to 169 yds, 2 TDs in preseason

Golden Tate caught three balls for 91 yards and a touchdown in the Detroit Lions' third preseason game.

What It Means:

With Calvin Johnson resting, Tate worked as the team's no. 1 receiver. We all know that Matthew Stafford likes to force the ball to his top receiver, and that was no different with Tate. The first score of the game was a 62-yard strike from Stafford to Tate. He won't produce like this with Johnson in, but has a strong floor of value nonetheless.

Tate had a strong season in 2014 that he'll be looking to improve on, when he ranked 17th among receivers with 100 or more targets in per-play Reception Net Expected Points, and 9th in Target NEP. He's a reliable receiver when playing a support role, that will also thrive when given top billing.
