Jets happy with Christian Hackenberg's progress

The New York Jets are happy with quarterback Christian Hackenberg's progress as he attempts to overhaul his footwork, MMQB's Albert Breer reports.

What It Means:

Hackenberg has been working with quarterbacks coach Jeremy Bates to clean up some of his issues. ESPN's Rich Cimini reported Hackenberg was "a little better than expected" during the offseason program while Josh McCown "wasn't quite as sharp as anticipated." That at least cracks the door for Hackenberg to win the job, but it is still very likely McCown earns the Week 1 start.

Our models project McCown to start for the majority of the 2017 season, racking up 3,333 passing yards, 18.11 touchdowns, and 13.63 interceptions on 526 passing attempts.
