Cam Newton says Panthers don't need him to always be playmaker

Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton said he has realized he does not have to "always be the playmaker."

What It Means:

"I have to give other people opportunities to make plays," Newton said in an insightful piece about his growth. "That's the hardest thing about maturation, especially for me." He acknowledged the need to focus on "getting the ball out of my hands" in an offense that will utilize more quick passes than in recent years. Newton is a strong bounce-back candidate after arguably the worst season of his NFL career.

numberFire's models project Newton for 3,693 passing yards, 24.48 touchdowns, and 13.46 interceptions on 526 attempts this year, adding 528 rushing yards and 5.13 touchdowns on 92 carries. He's our seventh-best quarterback for fantasy purposes.
