Jets giving quarterbacks equal first-team reps at OTAs

The New York Jets plan to give each quarterback equal first-team reps during OTAs, per offensive coordinator John Morton.

What It Means:

Josh McCown handled all of the first-team reps during the first day of OTAs, so expect Christian Hackenberg and Bryce Petty's turns with the first team to come later in the week. The quarterback competition in New York seems to be up for grabs, though it would appear that McCown is the current favorite to start Week 1.

The Jets finished 30th in schedule-adjusted Passing Net Expected Points (NEP) per play last season. McCown's 0.00 Passing NEP per dropback ranked only 31st among the 39 quarterbacks with at least 100 dropbacks on the year.
