Andy Dalton expects major improvement from Bengals' offense
Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton believes the offense will make "a big jump" this season after adding rookies John Ross and Joe Mixon in the first two rounds of the draft.
"We’re faster obviously. With John Ross’ speed that will be a big factor," Dalton said. "I would think that with (Mixon’s) versatility – the ability to run and catch – I think that’s going to be big." The Bengals' lack of depth on offense proved to be their downfall in 2016 following the offseason departures of Marvin Jones and Mohamed Sanu and then in-season injuries to A.J. Green and Tyler Eifert. Dalton could wind up being a fantastic late-round quarterback selection in fantasy drafts.
Out of the 39 quarterbacks who tallied at least 100 drop backs last season, Dalton was 14th in Passing Net Expected Points (NEP) per drop back. The Bengals ranked 12th in schedule-adjusted Offensive NEP per play.
