Colin Kaepernick and Robert Griffin III both options as Seahawks' backups
The Seattle Seahawks are considering free agent quarterbacks Colin Kaepernick and Robert Griffin III as they look to add backup depth, head coach Pete Carroll said in a Monday radio interview.
Aside from the oft-arrested Trevone Boykin, the Seahawks have no one behind Wilson, so it's a pressing need. Carroll's 'Hawks are never ones to swim with the league current, so it would be far from surprising were they the ones to break the Kaep embargo. Neither Kaepernick nor Griffin has made a visit since the start of free agency. There had barely been so much as a rumor until Carroll's interview.
Kaepernick's Passing Net Expected Points (NEP) per drop back ranked 28th among the 39 quarterbacks to drop back 100 times last season. Griffin's -0.13 Passing NEP per drop back was 37th among the same.
