Bengals will feed Joe Mixon early and often

Cincinnati Bengals second-round running back Joe Mixon "will likely get a heavy dose of playing time right away," according to the beliefs of ESPN Bengals reporter Katherine Terrell.

What It Means:

Terrell expects the Bengals to use Mixon "in a variety of ways" including as a kick returner. With Giovani Bernard (knee) questionable for Week 1 and Jeremy Hill wearing out his welcome in Cincinnati, playing time shouldn't be hard to come by for the rookie. Don't be surprised if Mixon passes Hill on the depth chart in training camp.

Among the 48 running backs with at least 100 carries in 2016, Hill actually finished 16th in Rushing Net Expected Points (NEP) per carry while Bernard was 35th. As a team, the Bengals were 10th in Adjusted Rushing NEP per play.
