Bilal Powell expected to take over as Jets lead back
New York Jets running back Bilal Powell is expected to be the team's lead back this season, according to Rich Cimini of ESPN.
Powell emerged as a fantasy stud late last season once Forte became limited by various injuries, averaging 138 total yards over the final four games of the season, on 20.5 carries and 5.3 receptions per contest. It'll be interesting to see how Powell's body holds up over a full season's workload. The versatile back turns 29 in October. Forte will celebrate his 32nd birthday in December.
Among the 42 running backs with at least 100 rushing attempts last season, Powell finished third in Rushing Net Expected Points per attempt. Forte was 15th-lowest in that metric among the same group of players.
