Rams get receiving help with Cooper Kupp at 69th pick
The Los Angeles Rams selected Eastern Washington Eagles wide receiver Cooper Kupp with the 69th overall pick in the 2017 NFL draft.
Kupp originally walked on in college, yet ended up starting all 52 of EWU's games during his time there. He earned FCS Offensive Player of the Year as both a junior and senior. The nearly 24-year old Kupp carries "system player" concerns after running a 4.62 40-yard dash at the Combine, especially since the 6’2", 204-pound prospect played exclusively as a slot mismatch. Despite his limitations, Kupp could be heavily targeted early in the Rams' barren wideout room.
Kupp broke the all-division college record for career receiving yards, with 6,464 on 428 receptions (15.1 average) and 73 touchdowns. The Rams' wide receiver corps generated the second-least Reception Net Expected Points per target among NFL wideout groups last year. His presence could bump Tavon Austin outside as a deep threat.
